What is SAP HANA?
SAP HANA (High-performance ANalytic Appliance) is a powerful in-memory database that enables companies to process vast amounts of data in real time. Many of SAP’s flagship products run on SAP HANA, including SAP S/4HANA, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, SAP Analytics Cloud, etc.
SAP HANA has more than 20,000 customers worldwide and is a proven choice for large enterprises. 94% of the Fortune 500 are SAP customers and 99 of the Fortune 100 are SAP S/4HANA customers. There are many ways to consume SAP in the cloud: on infrastructure as a service (IaaS) at one of the SAP HANA–certified public cloud service providers (SPs), on hosted infrastructure from managed SPs, and in the form of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms, including SAP's own cloud offerings.
However, the product is not without its shortcomings — many DBAs complain of a lack of visibility into SAP HANA backups that can lead to security breaches or compliance issues. In addition, solutions running on-premises, as well as older systems, further complicate backup and restore, driving up costs and often failing to meet business-critical SLAs.
It's essential to have a robust backup and restore solution in place to ensure business continuity in case of a disaster — one built in and for the cloud to drive down costs and enable a seamless data resiliency experience. That's where Druva comes in.
